Agreed. He either needs to step up the competition or be fighting no less than once a month. - Tim Starks

Have fun getting out in the storm.

I was a bit embarrassed by feeling as confident as I did about Corley winning, but hey, good for Hernandez for proving me wrong. - Tim Starks

Rigondeaux is amazing. That fight was too quick, hopefully he's back in the ring in March or April with how easy it was for him... - Unifythebelts (Dan P.)

Nothin' but knockouts

I'm a big fan of the sweet science aspects of the sport but even I have to admit that a night filled with violent knockouts gets my blood pumping. The fights were, excepting the one-sided blowouts, also really good, much better than I expected all around (except Johnson-Mack, I expected that to be good). I agree with you on all counts, Tim. Even Johnson acknowledged after the fight that he's older and had to adapt his style. I like Cloud over him but Johnson will push him to the limit and if Cloud has any psychological flaws that haven't been exposed yet in his young career, Glen will root them out.

They did a highlight reel of Rigondeaux's body shot knockouts before the fight and he proceeded to add to it immediately. Atlas called him the best body puncher and the best counterpuncher in the sport. Pretty hyperbolic for a guy with 5 fights but he's in the conversation, and that alone is amazing at this early stage. Here's hoping he fights a bantamweight ranked around 20-30 in the rankings in his next fight, he should be able to handle it easily.

Hernandez looked good and made me regret my upset call. Corley didn't look bad either but when I heard he came into the ring at 143 (not just the weigh-in) I was worried. I thought Paredes KO jumped off the screen more but Hernandez gets bigger points for knocking out a much, much better guy in spectacular fashion.

My fingers are crossed that the fights tonight live up to what we saw on Friday. Of course, this is not a prediction thread but I like Adamek to knock out Estrada late, I know Estrada has a really good chin but I don't think he can handle a fighter as good as Adamek. Yes, I think Adamek may be better than Povetkin, at least as a puncher, even at heavyweight. Adamek TKO 11. Polska! Polska!

Heck yeah. Really quite an interesting punch. I'm torn -- I think I might like the Hernandez knockout better. Both came from neat angles... last year, most of the best shots were a bit more vanilla. - Tim Starks

Yeah, that Paredes KO was absolutely brutal. Voted "most reminiscent of Juan Urango's KO of Carlos Vilches". - David Schraub
